Outings PageOur troop does many wonderful outings throughout the year. While this varies a bit from year to year, here is a sample of a typical year.
| September: Car Camping at Big Basin, California's oldest state park. The fine September weather under the majestic redwoods in California's old state park is really hard to beat. In addition to enjoying this historic place, we typically also work on all sorts of scout requirements in the Trail to First Class. |
 | October: Backpacking in Big Basin and the Coyote Creek Cycling. |
November: Balcutha Tall Ship overnight with the Webelos. Each year we open an activity to prospective Webelos that might want to join our troop to sucker them in -- uh, we mean show them what a great troop we have. What better way to do this than spending a night on the high seas (while tied to the dock) on a classic tall sailing ship from yesteryear.

December: Pary time! 'Tis the season to have a holiday party, and we don't miss a chance like this.
January: The elephant seals of Ano Nuevo State Park are in town, and we do a family outing to see these wonderful creatures of the sea. In a separate trip, we also do snow camping to build up those scout skills. So which is colder -- the beach in January or snow camping? Hmm, that is a tough call.

February: Welcome to the Klondike Derby. We take snow camping and toss in a bit of sled racing in a winter wonderland. See some pictures from 2009 here
March: Backpacking/campout
April: Bike Camping on the American River.
May: Once again we combine a bit of camping with time to work on our scouting requirements in this Trail to First Class event.
June: Bike Outing
July: This is often the highlight of the year, a week at Camp Hi-Sierra. This is a very important outing for the scouts, as much bonding between the scouts occurs during this time. It is a week packed with exciting activities for the scouts.

August: This is backpacking season in the high sierras, so we like to do a 50 mile (spread over a week) backpack. Not only is this an opportunity to experience the mountain wilderness as few do today, but it also fullfills a scouting requirement too!
